this seemed to be the right place to show off the new company logo First the old(21years old infact) Then the new The new GVR logo was designed by our own Russ Hoffman. Thanks Russ it looks great
I like it! Is the change from silver to black underframe deliberate? I'm wondering wether silver trucks with black fuel tank would look good? The logo & colour scheme look really good though, nice work.
No thanks necessary Catt! Just seeing that loco looking that sharp makes it all worthwhile. Sweeeeet! Russ
Looks great! too bad it's N scale. I'd love to have one of those passing through my engine terminal from time to time!
The Grande Valley exists in 4 scales, but N is the only one I have the new logo for. I also model the modern GVR in HO ,a turn of the century (1890/!910) GVR in 1/32 scale ,a modern GVR in 1/32 scale ,and a modern GVR tourist railroad in 0n30. I will be getting some larger decals made and will keep you in mind.
Catt, If you do get decals in a larger size please let me know. My layout models a small yard and engine facility. Its UP, but the yard its modelled after, sees all kinds of engines come through. I'd love to include one of yours in my mix. Perhaps, I could supply the loco and reimburse your for painting and decals. Keep me posted!
I am surprised that the new LOGO is in white as I thought the GVR colours were blue and yellow. I like the new look but could we have it in yellow please. Hope to see one of these soon at the interchange at Sarnia/Port Huron
I'm most impressed the new logo looks very realistic as Robyn stated I thought it would have been in Yellow. why the change in colour buddy?
I have had four different decal makers try to match that yellow colour. Not even the ALPS can match it.The origonal logo was white, then I added a yellow one for varieity. The fleet is currently about half and half. When I am done the lettering (on the locos I change) will be white. The Dash 840 CW I am currently working on will be solid blue with white lettering and numbers with a white sill stripe.
I meant to ask above if you printed these out yourself. For the lack of revisiting an old topic, could you please tell us your method. I've been wanting to try my hand at decals for a while as I ususally handpaint it on my locos. Thanks! Russ
Russ, Jim Wilhite in Anderson,Indiana did my decals. He prints with an ALPS and his prices are fair. Here is his email addy if you'd like to contact him. jwilhite@netdirect.net
Looks real nice to me Catt! I've got two GP20s and one GP7 stripped, awaiting their turn in the paint shop, and your work has inspired me to fire up the compressor.
Some GVR trivia for you guys.GP35r 2370 was painted in 1992,GPr 2375 was painted on 4/26/02. By the way the boys in the paintshop just repainted the trucks and tank on 2370 black.
It's amazing what you can get done when you are forced to sit at home. Even though you work slower when recovering from major surgery it beats sitting on your dead A**. Just don't over do it you ole fart. hehehehehehehehe
Since the Paris & Mt. Pleasant doesn't have access to an APLS printer, nor the expenses to afford custom-made decals, we've gone to CDS dry transfer lettering. White RR Roman letters & numbers on dark blue should do 'er just fine. I've had to letter my HO P&MtP diesels with RR Roman alphabet decals (spelling out "Paris & Mt, Pleasant" one letter at a time ). On my N scale version, I'm too lazy-er, short on time, and just apply the initials. I must agree with the boss-fella here- restrict the salty comments to off-list emails, so's no one's offended. Gotta agree, though, sitting doing nothing during recovery IS bad- good to see the Catt's fine work!
I'm also glad to see Catt back at work...still recovering from my own injury, I know how hard it can be doing nothing. With any luck I too will be back scratch building soon!! John
