Hello TB enthusiasts, I am looking for recommendations on the best HO Scale signal systems currently on the market. Your advice is much appreciated. MRH
Timely thread. Thanks. Custom Signal Systems. http://www.customsignalsystems.com/aboutus.htm I've been discussing mine with them for a while now. Trying to get my plan finished to send them. I've wired my layout already to accept their signals using a Team Digital 8 Block controller for my main line and smaller block detection that will be dedicated to the layout coal branch. My layout wiring uses red/green color convention for the N, S rails. Each red conductor is separated from the other conductors to make sure I get as little amperage as possible from wires running to close in parallel. I have got to get off my duff and send them a plan so I can get this stuff ordered. Good thread. Would also like to hear from those actually running a system for their input.
Michael, I reached out to a friend of mine who has done signals. His layout was featured in the October Rail Model Craftsman magazine. If you want to PM me your email, I will forward you this email with the attachment. Thanks, Dale Dale, Sorry I took so long to get back to you. You may recall (or may not! ) that I wrote a series of articles on this for the Dispatcher magazine (the journal of the OPSIG). I am attaching a PDF of those here. It is a bit lengthy but some of the articles are all about hardware. I used NJ International and BLMA signals, Digitrax SE-8c controllers for the signal heads, turnout control and block detection, an a computer (can be a $35 Raspberry Pi) running JMRI with CATS (a free CTC panel program that works with JMRI) to create the control panel. I hope this is helpful. Feel free to share my email address with him if he wants to discuss directly with me. I hope you are doing well! Sincerely, Steve Steve Davis KCS 3rd Sub Coweta, OK http://kcs3.webs.com
I hope you find a good reasonably priced solution. The ones I have talked to, I honestly lost interest and hearing when we went past $3K, for my outfit.
Tom, I can send you the information that Steve Davis shared on signaling, he talks about one of the layouts they did in the Tulsa area. It was done at a very reasonable cost. If you want to look ay it, PM me your email address and I will forward it. Thanks, Dale
