annoyed with the inacurate sideframes on my C30-7A project, I noticed they seem to be very simaler to the C40-8 sideframes. Since i have a dozen old C40-8 mechinisms sitting around, I figure I can try my hand at grafting them onto the kato truck sidframes and casting the master. Since the C30-7 trucks have been out of produvtion for several years, i'll need to do this to the SD40/flexcoil sideframe. Will this pop onto the C30-7 truck? or will I have to use the entire truck assembilly off the SD40.
Daniel, A first glance at your Q I nearly wet myself thinking "this bloke really isn't going to cut up some C30-7 trucks is he?I'll offer to swap him aset of SD40 trucks i have".Imagin my disappointment when I re-read! Just to be sure,you dont have any C30-7 trucks right?That you may wish to swap? All I can think of is that N Scale RRing article by Mike Danneman on how he built his Krauss Maffei's & then cast them in resin & the hydro trucks he converted by using SD45 trucks I think,but sorry I cant tell you if SD40 frames will fit.Did I confuse you enough now?lol.
if my experiment is sucessful (i'm trying Atlas flexcoil trucks) and looks good enough i'll be happt to swap some C30-7 trucks.
