U.P. Cabeese with a Shield? Here's a Crummy, U.P., one of my custom painted jobs. The only prototypical caboose I'm aware of was used at the Grand Opening of the Sacramento Railroad Museum. The docents painted a former U.P. caboose, in U.P. tuscan red/brown with a smaller shield on the side. So. I ask how hot would this have been if the U.P. railroad had used their shield, as seen here? One of these days your going to see one of my pictures with scenery in the foregroud. Have fun!
Some cool Rock Island Cabooses guys! I have always had a soft spot for RI so a couple of years ago I did a quick "re-do" of a factory painted MT caboose. At the time I couldn't find decals for this car so modified this one with new roof walks, black painted roof, window glazing and additional decal to the cupola. Not exact but captures the "flava" of the prototype. It really could use caboose trucks, Z scale couplers, and weathering now that I look at it again.
Another one of mine. This one, I just put back together today. I had it appart for an ongoing project I been working on. The bottom pic is of the unit I have been making as a generic FRED, that is small enough to put even in some Z scale rolling stock. It is done by a flashing timer, and surface mount LEDs, then piped to wherever you want it via fiber optics. This caboose got the first prototype transplant. There is a small micro switch on the bottom of the boose to turn the flashing red light on and off.
