Hey that's neat! I drove up from Montgomery on a Saturday just to look around, then went over to Irondale to see what NS was up to.
Coast to coast fuel tender? Just kidding, the Railroad Museum of PA's Plymouth critter is parked in front of the PRR 520's tender as both are undergoing some maintenance.
Darn cute! EMD Model 40 of which only 11 were made (a few ended up in Canada ). Plop a full-sized NW2 cab on a short two axle frame, add two GM 6-71 engines each driving one traction motor. They were pretty durable. Along with the DH1, the GMDH-1 and GMDH-3, among the very few industrial-sized locos built by EMD.
A close relative of Hydro-Québec's former Plymouth 15-tonner: With one of the engine covers off. Exporail, July 2009.

This oughtta tickle your fancy: Porter 12-ton gasoline-electric, built in December 1928 for Remington Arms in Bridgeport CT. Had a well-traveled life, going first to Manitoba, then Ontario, and Quebec, finally ending up right here, sitting on a big Lazy Susan. My photo, Exporail, July 2010.
Well, here is George. It was one of three two foot gauge locomotives built to transport coal from the Ohai mine in Southland, New Zealand in the early 1950s. It now hauls tourists on the Blenheim Riverside Railway on the South Island, New Zealand.
