Good to see you John!
I had fun participating in the last go around that Mark Watson had started, but I don't really care if I get any more than just pictures from the experience. If someone else wants the car after it's made the rounds, then fine by me. Maybe we should send it to George this time.
I DO like the idea of having Trainboard decals available, that would let me choose the kind of car I'd want to sport the TB logo.
As far as buying a car to start out with, I have some that I'd donate to the cause.
A small diorama would do, and it's easy to take outdoors for natural sunlight.
Wait !...let me look out my window. Was that pigs flying by ????
Wished I could have been a part of the first iteration of the traveling car. If the idea comes to fruition again I would love to be a part of it. Kinda' like a "where's Waldo" ala. Trainboard style. I don't care if I end up with the car via any auction, I just want to participate in a fun project and see where the heck the car travels to.
It's really all about the photography, and the storytelling. It helps for the 'originator' to come up with a concept to move the equipment, and to get a 'signup sheet' of everybody that wants to participate in the move, and sorta-kinda do a geographic track of the car by model locations.
I'm in, and pretty much sitting on the ATSF transcon, just in a 1972 time warp.
Lets see; did the Trainmaster stunt, the transcon run of the GP60's, a caboose, the M&ET 608 70-tonner on a flatcar, maybe more.
The M&ET transcon run did well and is still a model of how much fun this can be:
That's my pre-Bachmann 70-tonner kit on a flatcar, it's all resin and brass, and it's actually very light. I did the M&ET decals.
I finally did get it back, undamaged, and it's on the layout of the person that supplied the flatcar for the move.
I have no interest in retaining or making any more equipment, but I'll do any tour participation.
It may seem kinda goofy, but I'll suggest an all-door boxcar full of "Train Board" for model railroad layouts...... MBF or plywood perhaps, as the theme. That could travel all over. The all-door boxcars aren't that hard to find.
The HO cars do have a timelimit. Check out the first few posts of the thread.. It's usually 1 week.

Allowances for a 'reasonable' amount of time should be made. You don't want the project to stall at any location but by the same token don't want to rush participants through the photography process.
