Bear with me as I am a very excited 4 months into this hobby.

I am running a new digitrax zephyr extra on an oval that I just put together with some mountain passes. No scenery yet as I am working out the kinks in the track.

Got my BLI K4 today.¤ I have been waiting for a while for one.¤ Broadway Limited PRR K4.¤ Beautiful engine.¤ I have a problem when I get to a certain spot on my track and it stops.¤ The zephyr freaks and resets itself.¤ I can run a BLl M1, Bachman 280, and Bachman diesel round and round with no issues.¤ Any ideas of what to look for?

Tell us what the certain spot is. Sounds like a turnout.

It's actually a piece of curved flex track 10" before a turnout. The turnout is locked in the straight through position with no track connected to the second position., ( not sure what to call it ). The thing that gets me is that the BLI M1a runs through with no problem, but the K4 had the issue. It never makes it all the way to the turnout?

Is it at a join, or on the track section itself?

Is something on the engine itself causing a short when it goes through that curved section? That would be my guess.

Do you have any other engines that run thru this section of track successfully?
If not, I suspect that there is a short, if it is just this engine, then something funney is going on with the power pickups on this engine.

Yes, I have two other BLI stream engines, a bachmann 2-8-0, and a couple of diesels, all DCC and they run through that section of track with no issues.

I'd lift the shell, and look for potential shorts when the trucks are pivoted (like going through a curve) .. like maybe a truck solder terminal makes contact with the frame ?
