Looking at the Walthers list of Shinohara tracks, I notice that some (e.g. Nickle Silver Flex Track) do not have a code number. So which code does that mean? Or in other words, with which other (coded) tracks/turnouts etc can I combine them? Can they be combined with other brands as well (e.g. BK Enterprises)?

All the Shinohara HOn3 I have is .070 inches tall so I guess that would translate to code 70. There are ways to join it to other code rails if they are different. The way I prefer is to grind a slot in the middle of top of the rail joiners leaving the bottom intact. I then insert the higher rail in one end and the lower in the other end of the rail joiner. Then push down on the high end until the tops are flush. The bottom of the rail joiner is left with a kind of "Z" bend in it. I then solder the joint.
The prototype railroads also had to deal with this but they did it different I suppose. :D

Thanks, quite helpful! Since I will have to keep things mobile, I won't be able to use the soldering method. Thus, it's important for me to try to keep all the tracks of the same code.
