Hey guys! How everyone one doing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I'm planing a Shelf type switching layout. Any one have any suggestion on planing one. I pretty much know what I want. Below is a list. I like it to have alot of operation and also be able to take pictures of rolling stock and locomotive while on the layout. The layout is going to be 11' x 6' and 16" wide. The biggest structure will be Walther oil refinery and the turnable and yard will take up a 3' of space at one end of the layout. One of the yard tracks will be removeable to interchange the locomotive and rolling stoc with out touching them. If any one hase any suggestion let me know.

    Oil refinery
    coal dealer
small fright station and passinger startion.
a couple of abandon track crossings
    lumber dealer
and a couple of small fright companys

What scale and what era? For HO - there are alot of 18" wide shelf plans that would fit that bill. Atlas has some on their web site www.atlasrr.com and you can check out some of the back issues of MR - look for plans by Linda Sand or David Barrow.

The era question determines length of siding and size if switches. 50-70s' you can get away with number 4 turnouts but I recommend number 5 as a minimum.

If you can find the 1999 Model Railroad Planning it is loaded with good 18" wide shelf plans.
