Yes, its true!! My dual mainline had the "golden spike" driven in at 6:45 pm on Sunday :D :D :D!! Although there are some definite bugs to work out, generally things run smoothly. It takes a full 1.5 minutes for an engine to make a circuit running at a reasonable speed. Once the bugs are worked out it is on to the branchline. Still working on pics of all this for ya . Happy Modeling!!

Hey John did you have Champagney water and caviar for the track crew? All I got was cold beer and sandwitches! HA! It sure is a sigh of relief to see the first engine make the test run, isn't it? Enjoy! :D

Congrats John! Enjoy your running while you can, cause soon you'll find other things to do.

PS - Last check arrived. Just got it yesterday since I was home on break last week.

    Way to go John!
(as the track crews on the O&NE STILL haven't gotten past the hidden staging yard....%&^%$*#! slackers....... :D )
Most likely, when the mainline gets laid on my railroad, it'll be a growler of Rockslide
Brewpub's Widowmaker Wheat, with nachos for celebratory chow.
    Highball, SFSW!

    Bob,
As there is nothing like their Widowmaker Wheat and Nachos, let me know when the party starts...I'll help celebrate!! Got many of the "bugs" worked out tonight, and hope to do a semi-permanent power pack hook up soon (those aligator clips get in the way of smooth running!! Happy Modeling!!

    JCator,
Great to know ya got a main to run on. So whats the next additive ???? :D Its always like when you get one done something else comes to want to enter on your big plans. I know i've changed over and over again till I had something that suited me! :D Thats an expensive way to go and I did sadly. I guess I didn't plan as good as I thought I did :D Oh well it all turned out in the end and i'm happy and so is my track laying crew! Now they get to lay the tracks to my loco servicing facilities!!! :D :D :D Then they can call it DONE! And be happy with what I got a hamburger and a soda! Thats all their getting anyway !!! Oh and a bag of potato chips :D :D

Works for me! I hope to get the Frisco and O&NE mains laid, as well as the yard and spurs, by summer. THEN the beer flows!!!!
Seeing as how the layout shares space in our bedroom, the missus has been awfully tolerant
but still doesn't want a staging track over the head of the bed :D Oh well......
I'll let you know when the Last Spike gets nailed in, & we'll get the growlers!

Its funny...I am going about it just the opposite way. I wanted the mainline first, then I will build in some hidden staging. I figured that once I had the running characteristics of the main down, I would know whether the staging would be under layout or behind the scenery :D :D :D. Anyhow, I am planning a little ribbon cutting party with my family soon. My 4-year-old will of course run the first official train on the mainline!! I am also hoping to hit Hobby Hut for a PA set in Rio Grande paint that I saw a few weeks ago. Happy Modeling!!
