We celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Portland Union Station. Both of Portland's 4-8-4's were in attendance. 700 had journeyed from Brooklyn roundhouse. 4449 on the other hand had been north to British Columbia and returned. Sure wish I could get those spots off the negative. They seem to be permanent.
I have a few slides with spots. Am happy to have them. But........ If only my time machine were working, I'd like to go back more than just seven years! What news of future runs for either of those grand ladies? Boxcab E50
Boxcab (Ken?), the 4449 sneaked down to Salem for the state fair and sneaked back. As far as I know there are no plans to run either of them the rest of the year. The insurance thing, you know. The 1995 NRHS National Convention will take place in Portland. If they don't run before then, I'm sure they will then.
Help??? Did I stumble into a time warp? Or do I get more than one 1995 in my lifetime? Ken Boxcab E50
My wife keeps telling me I need ginko whatever it is and I keep telling her it's time to check into "the home." We both may be right. Anyway, the NRHS Convention will be in 1775 or 1896, I'm not sure. If you are in Portland in 2005 you may see these engines. Here's another, taken in 1492 or somewhere near there, same two characters, different location. I lost this one when the old Railimages disappeared. What year was that? Rescanned.
Hey Jim...great shots, I will probably be in that same home...maybe we can get rooms with a view of the RR Museum and tracks...
