When I was a little guy, we had the classic Lionel set that came out every Christmas season. Around 1960, my father built a 4x8 HO layout, and I was encouraged to operate and eventually help with construction. We had brass track with fiber-board ties, a little Mantua 0-4-0 Shifter, and one diesel with rubber band drive. But we had fun until we moved. Then the layout never ran again. Fast forward 50 years, and I now have a small N-scale layout. My father appreciates the layout but can't imagine dealing with such tiny trains! - Jeff
