Last year, the Sebring (Ohio) Model Railroad Club celebrated our 75th anniversary. To commemorate that milestone, we teamed up with Accu-Rail to to produce a limited edition, 3-bay, covered hopper with the club railroad (OWA) and club logo adorning the sides. The car comes in two different numbers and is limited to 50 numbers of each.

If you would like one, or both, you can stop by and pick them up in person or, for a small shipping charge, we will ship them to you. Contact us either through our page or the email listed if you are interested in purchasing. Price per car is $28. Single cars fit into a $10 USPS shipping box. If you would like to order more than one, actual shipping will be calculated for your address.

To order, you can contact me here on Trainboard, or you can contact Mike (who has all the cars) directly through the SMRRC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100026316952093.

A little background on the Sebring Model Railroad Club anniversary car:

The Ohio and Western Allegheny or OWA is the fictional freelance railroad that runs the rails of the Sebring Model Railroad Club. When we chose the numbers for the car we didn’t just want “1948” and “2023” so we added a 4 to the number, the 4 signifies the number of railroads (PRR, PC, CR, NS) that have graced the rails past our building over the 75 years.

The build date found on our car stems from the events of August of 1972 when one of our former members purchased a (full-sized) caboose to start a hobby shop. With the help of other club members, he was able to get the caboose moved to his property. This sent in motion the idea that if members could do this “little” project that they could do something bigger and it started the ball rolling on the acquisition of our current building from Penn Central, and its relocation to its present location in 1974.
