I don't know how much connection this forum has with Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) users/players but the thing that connects me to trains now, is a mod I created that enhanced the train system in GTA V. I wrote the script that was released with the Kitsune Trains 7 mod and have recently found myself tinkering with it again. This is a short example of the animation system that I created.

Default GTAV trains do pretty much nothing, they just appear in the map, travel at a constant speed and then disappear... I can't even remember if the wheels turned or not.

The other major part of the mod was custom positional 3D sound for the trains. Whilst it worked fine, it has always suffered from sound quality issues. Most of the sounds were provided by the person who created the models and they were fairly inconsistent with regards to volume and quality, so I was hoping to replace them as part of my final upgrade. The mod has several steam trains and a fairly large collection of US Diesels... the modeler lived in Salton Sea (California), the location Sandy Shores was based on in GTA V. They were also very interested in trains.

That's where I find myself today... so I was wondering if anyone was aware of any free-to-use collections of engine/horn/bell sounds. I have never charged for anything I have ever created and I don't monetise my YT videos, I create out of choice not for a need to earn money from it.

I know it probably looks bad being a new user and immediately asking for something but as a long-term recluse, I don't generally have much to say to ease myself into the community. I understand this might be frowned upon and accept that there might be consequences. I apologise if that's the case.

Just a quick update on this... Back in 2021 I stumbled across a website which was someone with their own collection of train horns and they had mp3 sample files of them all to download. I downloaded one file which I have just found again, called "M3 Bernett.mp3" but I have no idea what the site was. I seem to rememeber lots of yellow on the site but very little else. The sounds were excellent quality and I should have got more at the time but I was just looking for a test sound back then to experiment with the 3D audio. I stupidly didn't bookmark the site, unless I did and the bookmark name just isn't registering with me.

I thought I might be able to search with the filename but Google search has become absolute garbage with it showing everything else apart from what you actually search for. If this small bit of info seems familiar to anyone, please let me know. I have been given permission by The Horn King to use samples from his videos but his horn usage can sometimes be a bit too... flamboyant shall we say. That's not a bad thing but it's not necessarily ideal for my usage needs.
