I was wondering if anyone here has considered building a SD90MAC-h loco using the Rail Power Products shell & Overland chassis?

I am thinking about attempting to build one using the Walthers Catalog RPP shell & chassis that is for sale & buy the powertrain one part at a time.

Actually, by using the OMI chassis, you don't have to buy anything else for the powertrain at all. I don't have their SD90 drive, but I've got about a dozen of their other drives for various units (SD45, SD40-2, B40-8, GP60, etc.), and they run great. They're eqipped with a Buhler can motor and feature low-profile flywheels and driveshafts that give you plenty of room to add cab details if you desire. All you have to do is slap on the shell, add details to taste, paint & decals, and you're good to go. There were a couple recent articles covering modeling UP SD90MAC's, and in one the author used the OMI drive (can't remember which one, though!). March 2000 RMJ and May/June 1998 Model Railroading are the issues to get. Good luck!
