That could be plausible. It does kind of bulge outward around the battery boxes. The battery box section is well done compared to the KATO one, IDK, it just seems like that would be a lot of trouble. Plus, since you would be starting from scratch, why not go with brass handrails anyway? Just my opinion, I'd say these shells are fine. Maybe some dullcoat, some grease and oil on the trucks will look good. Maybe some soot on the ends and roof.
JNJ has a reputation for modifying and in some cases straight copying other companies tooling, casting and selling. The SD45B shells are nothing more than a kitbashed Kato SD45. I am curious to know if the Kato stamp is still present under the dust bin? They may have ground it off. That being said, they are turning out quite nicely:tb-biggrin:
The 5501 has all decals applied. After I get 5502 numbered on the front and back, they'll be ready for detailing.
Well done! Painting and decaling models is something I've never been able to pull off. You have though.
They are looking good Steve! I got one I want to do also, so checking out your work helps me. Cant' wait to see them done! Mike
Now I just need a job and money to get all eight of the 45-2 B's made. All though getting the layout operational should come first. lol.
