After being relieved after 12hrs running this train, I positioned myself in the new boat ramps parking lot before heading home to video it crossing the bridge over the Coosa River heading into Gadsden. Coming off the bridge the train starts street running through part of town. [ame="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hZwyVL6gmBU"]YouTube - SD40T-2[/ame]
Nice vid, Jerry! I haven't seen anything from you in a while, so I usually have to resort to the SD45 acceleration, and High Bridge vids to get my fix....
After viewing this several times and perhaps getting into the moment, man, I think that lead unit was a former DRGW 40T that's been repainted in SP colors. Probably a 5500 series number. Was that 3rd engine a 45T-2 in NS paint??? Didn't know they bought any!
Rick, a 5500-series number would denote a former D&RGW SD50. 5300's were SD7/9/45/40T-2's. The NS unit was likely former Conrail.
Lead Unit is the 5387, followed be ex-SP SD45 7444, and ex-SP SD45T-2 9259. (Both owned and operated by the Alabama & Tennessee River RR, but still lettered LTEX.)
Thanks for the information! And to answer previous questions, you are correct, the 5387 was a repainted Grande SD40T-2 followed by a SD45R and SD45T-2.
