Has anyone heard if Kato or Atlas or Intermountain have an SD40-2 in the works?

Kato has already done it, there are still a few on dealers' shelves in out of the way places. Knowing Kato's reputation, it'll be the next decade before they'll rerun them.

Whether the other two would consider a model already done by Kato is problematical. They'd both have to change their philosophies some. But, Atlas is starting the "Trainman Line", and as the SD40-2 was the most common prototype of the past three decades, it might be a good choice for it.

    There's always eBay..... [IMG]

Remember when Kato touted their new SD40-2's before they released them, they stated they were going to do many different versions. So, there is still hope.

Bryan, your best bet is probably eBay or swap meets. These things can still be found at stores from time to time, but are fairly rare nowadays. You could also look up N Scale Supply; they've got a TON of preowned stuff right now. I'm not sure if they have 40-2's, but it costs nothing to look, yes?
