I guess everyone else is getting bored of hearing this, but i got my SD 90 today!U.P.#8038!JOYGASM!I CAN HARDLY CONTAIN MYSELF! I just gotta add the handrails and some subtle weathering.Anyone got pics of theirs with weathering?I'm thinking just a little dusting over the trucks,a little soot around the stack, and some spills around the fuel tank.AAAAHHHH,I gotta get off the computer and go play trains!
Hi Dangerboy! I just got my SD80MAC's, and I must say they are impressive! I plan to convert them to DCC to run at our next show (next weekend!) Harold
Hello Dangerboy; I've got one of two SD80,s painted CSX #801 already. It looks great. I am waiting for a friend to take a digital pic so I can share it with y'all. I was going to paint the other one CSX but found out the NS took some from Conrail so I might paint the other in NS. It will certainly be a lot easier as they are all black.
Hey Paul, While I did not get one in CP(I got a UP), I have seen them. So at least I can tell you that they are out there and they do look great! Hope yours shows up soon.
Hey!, I've been going to the hobbyshop constantly and haven't seen the SD80's yet. When did they come out? I know that the SD60M's were just rereleased, but I haven't even seen the SD80/90's yet. Everyone whose gotten theirs.....enjoy!
I recieved my 9 SD90s and i noticed that they run quiter than past kato locos. I got 1 detailed tonight and it looks excellent.

quote:
Originally posted by Colonel: I'm really looking forward to receiving my CP rail SD90, has anybody received their CP rail model?

I got one last week. I haven't run it much yet as I have no track laid, but it looks great. The red and gold paint look wonderful, as do the working ditch lights (I ran it at the shop's test track... very quiet) D6
You UP (Uncle Pete) fans might want to check out the LBF website. They have a coal train picture with SD90s. Try http://www.lbfcompany.com/coal_trains.htm Jerry
Colonel, I have three SD90's on hold (CP). I was playing with them at my dealers store and really like them - I love the "golden rodent." I will second the observation on how quiet they run, all three MU'd together were amazingly quiet. And big....I love it. At the store, you could actually feel the table rumble when they ran. My complaint is against Kato in general and not towards just this model. The CP paint scheme in their "red" is not quite right. It is a little too light, needs to be just a touch darker, but this is common to all CP red that Kato does. But the SD90's have convinced me that N scale is THE scale for contemporary modeling. I can't imagine how large these would be in HO, probably look like G scale. But I am willing to predict that this engine will become one of your all time favourites.
Got my 3 up's the week of june 7th, the kato web site updates kept me from pestering my local dealer to much. Noticed the lights are extremely bright compared to the dash 9's in dark operations. Have had no problem mu-ing these to other katos, c449w, sd40, sd40-2, c30-7. Plan on getting 3 undec. sd80's and decorating them for SP using the 3 mk5000 roster numbers. I'm of course pretending that SP nixed the mk5000 order for emd sd80 macs instead.
