I am so lucky. I ordered this SD 7 on ebay for $31.00 and in the process of e- mailing back and forth, the seller mentioned he also had another SD 7 just like it and would let me have it for for the same price. Well the box came today and he had added a caboose and 4 crossing tracks as a bonus. I hooked up a test track to check out those SD 7's and they just sat there doing nothing. I started to get a little worried and angry when I decided to check them out. They are wired for DCC with the chip and all. I guess that added to the worth of them. Then another box came today and it was one of the 4-8-4's I had baught on ebay for $35.00 each. I tested it and it ran like a dream. It would go so slow without a stutter that a snail could pass it and also had good speed. I should be getting the other one within the next day or so. Hope it is just as good.
I was debating whether to make my next layout DCC or not. I guess I will go DCC. That means I will have 12 engines to convert. FUNNN!!!!!

Sounds like you got a great deal Dick. I suppose the decoders could be removed if you don't plan to go DCC. Now that 4-8-4 sounds like a dream. What make is it?

It is a Bachmann Northern, CBQ, Burlington on the tender. The tender has 8 axels, 16 wheels. It is a looong sucker.
In Walthers 2000 model railroad reference book it list the price as $98.00. I went to Sacramento this morning and stopped at Bruces's train shop and they had a similar engine with a smaller tender listed at $198.00.

Sometimes you can get a great deal on ebay. I've never bought model railroad stuff on ebay, but I have found many deals on computer parts.

You left him good feedback, yes?

Welll. I do have another one but it is to small I call it my little puffer, an old fashioned 4-4-0. I guess I can use it for display in a park on the layout.
