Tonight around 6:20 PM, NB thru Auburn,WA, was a container train with two back to back SD-60m's! #'s 9274 and 9294, no other units. In perfect Green and Black w/whitefaces and all. Looked odd. Don't they still use these on unit coal trains only?

Not anymore; they've got enough AC power now.

I have been seeing lots of SD60 and SD60M's on non-coal trains for the past few months. I have also seen SD70MAC's on Z trains.

The 60's and 60M's are now seen regularly on the Belen cutoff. We saw two of the Oakways in a span of three hours on Memorial day. I never prevously saw one away from the PRB feeder lines.

Saw this unit in DPU duty on an intermodal train through Cajon Pass a few weeks ago...

WHile not a SD60M we had a SD60(oakway) and a SD40-2 for power the other night on the late switch at Spokane. Man were we kicking those cars, I don't think we had a single track we had to shove due to the cars not making it all the way.

They are sharp looking units! Here's two I caught back in May:
