Here's my first attempt at handlaying a #11 code 55 turnout. More of these will be built to be used with Atlas code 55 flextrack on future modules. I will probably use Atlas #7 turnouts in yards and industrial spurs, but for mainline crossovers and controlled sidings I think larger turnouts look much, much better! -sd80mac- [ 30. Nice work... I bet if you had an assembly line you could sell all you made! (For those of you that can't see it, you have to copy the address from properties, then go to the group and join, then you can see the photo)
Too much hassle to look at a photo! I sure wish there was a Model R.R. group around that had the capability for its members to post pictures on and look at them without all this hassle .
sd80mac- Nice job. I agree with your approach.... No.11s for mainline, 7s for industry and Atlas 5s for yard ladders. Micro Engineering 6s for inside industry trackage. Charlie G&S Rwy Co
Hi Charlie, I never thanked you for the picture of the etched frog, so thanks! Also, thanks for the kind words regarding the #11 turnout. For a while, I contemplated purchasing the Athabasca Shops #11 etched frog, but I talked myself into jus building one. I used to handlay switches in HO and figured it couldn't be much more difficult in N scale so I went for it. The results were extremely satisfying and I think I will enjoy seeing trains negotiating the larger turnout.
Glad to hear that the picture made it to you okay. I am in the midst of learning about Websites so soon will be able to post pictures directly to this forum. I have announced my new company's website on the N Scale List but have not done so here; my company, Railroad Model Resources provides consulting services to the Model Railroad Industry. The website is intended for manufacturers, but you may want to visit it anyway http://home.attbi.com/~cvlk/ Charlie
thanks a lot pray59! I just visited your website and it it outstanding! Especially the unit with the fake styrene wheel! Thanks again!
