Trying to remember where I found the information, but I believe that some of the ex-MILW U30C units went into the "Super 7" program?
So many great catches in this thread! I worked at MK when the 3000 Super 7 was rebuilt with the other "C" and both the "B's" for the prototypes. Lots of GE guys around to be sure it went well. Back a couple of pages, high nose GE's and 4501 and 611, followed by a mystery steam loco!!! Great stuff!!
How about some ghost? KCS 684 - This was somewhere in west Arkansas maybe north of DeQueen AR. KCS 707 - This would have been in the same area north of DeQueen AR
Right out of the Navy, went to work for MK in Boise for a few years. Was involved in wiring up BN GP39-2's, NJT, MARC, MDOT, CSX and other lines units. Including the MK leasors. Oh, and installing Q-Tronics wheelslip control systems in initial testing.
Now, some grey ghost KCS 642 northbound near DeQueen AR KCS 719 at Kansas City MO KCS 4001 southbound at Ashdown AR.
NS 6647 crossing Raccoon Mountain on its way in to Chattanooga TN. NS 7010 at Chattanooga TN NS 8524 at Collegedale TN
A couple of shots of UP 6938 when she was being repainted and then stored before being put on display in North Little Rock Arkansas
Great catch! The D&RGW 3130 (and 3129) was one of the latest GP40-2s built (1983), as it was a wreck trade-in credit from a 7 Aug 1982 Byer's Canyon wreck of 3025, 3058. These two units are notable in their unusual angular dynamic brake blower bulge, and fan and exhaust silencers, federally-mandated at that time. https://utahrails.net/drgw/rg-diesels-2.php
The wife found a file on her computer of train pictures from when I was experimenting with a different scanner 10+ years ago. I'd forgotten about doing this. They still aren't great but I'll start sharing some of them here. I'll start with some BNSF from the late 90's/early 2000's and go from there.
