I am sure there are several rock trains running from San Antonio. Does anyone know when I might railfan these? Or how I would find that information? I presume that this information may not be available with the current security concerns, but maybe some railfan here knows of some schedule, if there is one.

I am particularly interested in photographing the low sided, older Herzog gondolas. I have a few days in San Antonio, so I thought I might try it. Thanks. [IMG]

It is my understanding that there is no schedule. A customer contacts the aggregate producer with an order, a train is loaded and the railroads work it in a the bottom of the heap. I think you will just have to trust to luck that you will see what you want if you camp out along the old MoPac line coming down from the San Marcos area where many of the crushed stone operations are.

Got it! That is exactly where I usually see the train...along the edge of the airport.
