Great map!! I would like to start discussing what freightcar models I need
for SAL in the 1949-1950 era. You know the manufacturers so well I figure you could give
me and others some direction. I'll make a list and give it to Santa Claus. Does Yankee
    Clipper models hava website?

You should check out Denis' web page. He has a list of models that have been produced for the SAL (many are still available). Unfortunately, I lost the link when my computer crashed a while ago.

Thanks Chris, however, I need to update that list, it is way out of date.

That will get you to the site and from there you can find your way around.

Given the era that you model some roundroof cars would most certainly be in order. I worked with Bowser on those and there are 5 different ones available from them. The more modern lettered ones, with the block lettering, are one that you don't want.

The X29 style cars from Red Caboose are another one that you need to have some of. Check out my website for one of those built into a SAL Ventilated Express boxcar.

Also from RC, you need some of their 1937 AAR box cars. Those things were every where and RC has a good selection of lettering styles on those cars.

Ventilated boxcars are another model that you will need to have. The one from ConCor, old time boxcar, isn't really that bad although it is not a true SAL vent. However, it is a good standin model for the time being.

Woodracks, you need some of those. I also know where you can get some of them custom built...HINT..<G>

Covered hoppers, Kato and Bowser both make nice SAL covered hoppers that are appropriate for your modeling era.

Gons, man, are we in trouble here. No really good ones available for us SAL modelers. However, the ERTL one is not half bad although it is not 100% either.

The upcoming car from Yankee Clipper is also one that you should have. However, there is a cheaper way to get that car. Overlay the RC X29 with styrene and add ribs and you will be in business. Their dimensions are virtually identical.

Here is a hint for you. You need to be Paul Faulk's SAL Color Guide. This will be an invaluable source for your modeling efforts. Also, some guy by the name of Denis Blake helped on that thing as well.<G>

Well, there are more and we can get into them at another time. This should most definately give you some food for thought and your wallet a workout as well.
