    Hello,

I have a A/B Seaboard E8/9 (may be an E7) in the citrus scheme. Study has shown me this was a color scheme used early in Seaboard passenger service, with the mint green scheme coming later before the merger. My question is, were the cars painted in the same scheme prototypical? I know MT has produced a large scale version of cars in the citrus scheme. I model N scale, therefore, I will be painting/numbering them myself. Wanted some background from those who know before I jump off in that. I have been able to find aluminum/stainless budd cars with the black lettering in prototype photos, however have come up empty finding the citrus scheme cars.

    Any help appreciated.

    Red.

Red - T0 the best of my knowledge (60+ years as an SAL fan), none of SAL's passenger cars were ever painted in he Citrus scheme. I have photos of the Budd built cars from the original Silver Meteor (circa 1939) 'til the merger and they were all and always stainless steel. Heavy weight cars were (as God intended) Pullman green with gold lettering.

The only deviation(s) I am aware of were some heavy weight cars done up in a grey and maroon scheme for the "Orange Blossom Special."

Dave is correct, however after the merger, SCL painted the roofs black.
