IS there any guidance available re putting the 'running Indian' emblem on streamlined passenger cars? It appears to have been used sparingly, only in the later years, and then almost all on diners and sleepers. May have been on only one end of each car. Anyone know for sure? Car numbers/names?
    Thanks !!

I believe that the Running Indian logo was first applied of the 1947 Olympian Hiawatha train sets. I don't have much information to draw from on this topic. But that is one scheme I recall seeing pictured.

I was at a train sale in La Crosse Wis. last weekend. A guy was selling one for $350, he said it was an original, no way to really tell. [IMG]

    Andy-

Could be the real thing. Then again, there have been reproductions made. So......

as far as passenger use goes, it was indeed a locomotive/tailcar placard, rarely used on the other cars...until the mid 50's..then for some reason, it was everywhere

The "Running Indian" really started to see a lot of use, after WWII. When all the railroads were trying to push their post-war streamlined trains.
