    Jim,

    Have you read the book titled "My Life on Mountain Railroads" by William John Gilbert Gould.
    Utah State University Press, Logan, Utah 1995.

    It's about being a fireman then engineer in the early days of the D&RG in Utah working between Helper and Salt Lake and the numerous branch lines. Then his days on the Utah Railway.

    Might have to run down to the local library and see if they have a copy. Sounds interesting. Ran a quick search and found both soft and hard copys, new and used running from $15.00 to $50.00. Thanks for the tip.
