The following was received in response to my query posed to J. Philip Walthers, President of Wm. K. Walthers, Inc. of Milwaukee, Wisc:

"...Walther's current policy is to replace all damaged/defective Rivarossi products for up to one year from date of purchase as long as we have that product in stock. Warranty repairs will not be done. A defective locomotive should be returned to your dealer for replacement.

Walthers has replacement couplers and traction tires available for the Allegheny locomotive, which can be obtained through your dealer should the need arise. An extensive line of parts for the new Allegheny locomotives will be available for purchase shortly. Again, a modeler should obtain replacement parts through his/her dealer. A variety of parts for other Rivarossi locomotives will be available beginning this summer (2002).

Walthers anticipates having a wide variety of parts available for purchase should a modeler have problems after their warranty expires. Also, Gulf Manor Hobbies in Cincinnati, Ohio has been designated a repair vendor for Rivarossi products and will do post-warranty repairs for a fee.

Walthers will replace locomotives remaining from the previous districutor for up to one year from date of purchase as long as we have a replacement in stock and it is returned through your dealer. Should a replacement locomotive not be in stock, Walthers will exchange the defective product for a comparably priced in-stock locomotive of the customer's choosing."

    Hey Chuck,
Is their a chance that you can see if they are going to carry the older "Model Expo" traction bands for on those loco's???? These traction bands seem to be the hardest to find and or get.. And I know I can use a few plus a few other fellows I know also can use replacements as well. So I'm concidering in carrying them for my own use and also for small traction band replacement jobs in my shop.... Let us know....

John, looking at the Walthers response, they state" A variety of parts for OTHER Rivarossi locomotives will be available beginning this summer".
If one wants some earlier, I would try the Gulf Manor shop in Cincinnati who has a Mechanic
that handles Rivs. He seemed to be co-operative when I talked to him two years back in trying to understand the vague modelexpo riv warranty. They are at 513-351-3849

    Thanks Chuck,
I'll have to give then a call and see what can be had... I'm after a few different parts that only Rivarossi can make! Or knowing me, I'd make them myself It I could.. Its just one of those things....
