I got some wood in this week, and have been working on my Northern Pacific 24' Wood Caboose.

I had to remove the rev 2 pictures, to make room for newer ones. I ran out of space on my site, even after compressing pictures.

I still need to order details to finish it. I had looked for the MT smokejacks and brakewheels, but cannot find any for sale. I'm still researching the smokejacks, brakewheels and brakegear from other manufacutrers.

As for paint, I used Floquil: ATSF Mineral Brown, Grimey Black for the roof, Engine Black for the underbody, and Railbox Yellow for the grabs.

All the parts up to date have been Laser Cut from 1/32" Basswood, 1/64" plywood, and .020" Strathmore for the roof because I needed something flexible and easily glued.

Other parts used so far are Clover House .010" brass wire for grabs, which scale to 1 1/2" but are as fine of wire as I could find, and of course MT trucks and couplers. :D

    Robert-

MT did sell, I believe they still do, blister packages of replacement parts. I don't have any smoke jacks in my parts bin. So can't help with a number there.

They do have brake wheels. Offered in at least two styles. In black and at least one brown color. They have the wheels that are used on their tank cars. And they also have what they term "horizontal brake wheels #13001 replacement part." These are light brown. On package, the p/n 1088 for twelve. Cost was about $5.00. That was several years ago.

They had, hopefully still do, spare parts of all kinds. Hopper doors, ladders, stirrups, etc. You might try and e-mail to them. It would likely be a bit faster if you phoned. Sometimes they'll even sell you repair parts that are not catalogued. At least have for me........

I had e-mailed them early this morning, but no reply yet. I'm looking into Sunrise Enterprises smokejacks, and Gold Medal Models brakewheels too.
