Has anyone actually ever modelled one of these? Just an example, I haven't ever seen a loco with this treatment modelled before, freelance or prototype.
Peol Soelburg (I think that is how his name is spelled) recently did and article in Model railroader on detailing leased units. Otherwise, I have seen older SF and BN units that still had their logos but with small lettering for the leasing companies under the cab windows.
I don't know that I've seen H-macs specifically, but there have been a number of examples of leasers posted to trainboard over the years. BN/FURX being the easiest.
I haven't done a marked out unit but I have some to do eventually modeling the I&O. Here is a CEFX SD45R.... (It has recently been bought by I&O and relettered IORY in place of CEFX, not sure if I am going to model that or not.)
Not N-scale - go to http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/48998-helm/ and see a friends HO layout - ALL patched leasers!
I located the "Rent a Wreck" thread but it predates the server changes so all of the pics are gone. Maybe time for a new one?
Hello there. I just received this month's (July) Model Railroader. It has an article on "patch locos". Diesels that still have their original paint but have had their reporting marks patched over because the engines now belong to leasing companies.
I'm a bit of a leasor fan, Independent Locomotive Service to be more procise. Here are some examples of my work... ILSX Blog
