I see the executive train at least once a year and I have scads of pics of it. It's black, red and yellow, not Brunswick green, red and yellow. Take it from a KCS railfan.

OK, I'll accept that. But what I was referring to was the original scheme, which did have Brunswick green. I've seen pics of the KCS F-units, and I agree they're black.

Fred Frailey, in the Yahoo group "KCS Notes", reported that he received the following email message from Mike Haverty:

"All new locomotives purchased going forward will be in the new
paint scheme in both the US and Mexico. Should be 90 this year.
    MRH"

Now if he had only leaked the location of the paint shop...............

    Regards

I've read either San Luis Potosi or Monterrey, according to the kcsnotes group on Yahoo.

    This from the kcsnotes group:

"This is unconfirmed, but it comes from a fairly informed source: Some of the KCSM ES44AC's will be painted at San Luis Potosí, and some will be painted by Alstom at Monterrey. Can anyone provide more certain information?"

Unfortunately, no date for painting, but primer gray ES44s with KCS stenciled on the cab sides have been seen on the rails in the States, and will be heading south for the border. My guess is as soon as diesels arrive, painting will commence. When that happens is anybody's guess.

Some have been south of the border for days. Some thoughts were that they would just run as far as Monterrey or SLP and then get taken off line abd paint shopped. But it's been reported on a couple of Mexican railroad forums that some have been seen going back on northbound trains (still within Mexico). That's been adding to the doubts about where and when.

Yeah, I saw that clip at KCS Notes too. Still supposition/rumors, even though it may be true.

I'll be happy when we get to see the first ones in glowing technicolor.
