Folks, new to the board and have been lurking for a couple of months now. I've already learned a ton - so thanks in advance. I'm hoping this is the right place to post this, but if not just refer me over and I'll get it onto the right forum asap!

ok, here's the skinny. I'm new to trains, have selected n scale, and am building Mike's door layout #7 (folded dogbone, yard in front) but in 4X8 format (I'm not limited on space but don't want to get too ridiculous on the first one!).

Won't be modeling any specific era, just want something to spend time in the basement with my 4 year old daughter, and will go with a hodge podge of trains that she picks out. She understands fragile and just likes to spend time with dad, so don't worry about "whoa, a 4 yr old with free reign!". She's harmless.

I've decided DCC is for me. Digitrax Zephyr is on the way... Now for the questions:

    1. Can anyone recommend how I should wire this particular plan for DCC operation.. specifically, should I use multiple blocks, if so where, etc???

    2. Any other pitfalls a newbie should be aware of with this plan?

Oh, all code 80 Atlas... lots-o-flex!

    Thanks in advance.

    Ray

btw, is there a trick for uploading photos that I'm missing? most of the strings searched on this talk of a 'beta' app for direct upload... did it go live?

Here is the link to the DCC forum on this site:
    http://www.trainboard.com/ultimatebb.php/ubb/forum/f/12.html

And here is the link to the Atlas DCC forum - more active than the TrainBoard forum (quicker answers):
    http://forum.atlasrr.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=6

I have also just gotten back into scale model trains and I have also bought a Digitrax Zephyr - haven't got it wired in yet.

As for images, you can get an account at RailImages (its free and easy):
    http://www.railimages.com/
Once you get an account, you can upload images and then link to them here or on any other forum.

    Good luck and Happy Railroading!
