Looks as if you can buy 5 ConCor Superliners for the price of 4 Kato. Who has the ConCor offering (with interiors) and what do you think? They look as if they ride a bit high in photos (like many ConCor things do), but look good otherwise. Which would look better, ConCor with interiors and non-tinted windows or kato without(?) interiors and tinted(?) windows?

The ConCor cars are simply re-issues and probly do still ride high on the rails. With or witout interiors I would want tinted windows cause thats the way they are. :D

I bought a Con-Cor smoothside car on e-bay a while ago (mainly just to experiment) and I was very unhappy with the quality control. Roof didn't fit flush with carbody, etc.

I did try an experiment that worked really well as far as tinting windows. Go to a place that tints auto glass and ask for some scraps. (The one I went to gave me a piece large enough to do a fleet of cars at no cost. Cut it into strips, wet it and press it against the clear sides of the Con-Cor car. It wasn't quite dark enough so I added another strip to the inside. Finally for varity I added a second strip over the inside for some windows.

The results were very pleasing and the cost was perfect !

I have 6 ConCor superliners that I decaled in phase IV and have done a lot of work to them to get them to ride at the right height and track correctly. I body mounted the couplers to them and they work well but are only fair in the detail department. The roofs have the unsightly mold port marks that modeling putty can only slightly fix. My Con-Cors will become train show fodder once I get a set of Katos! :D

I have a set of 5 of the Phase III Superliners a few years back and I was really happy with mine while I had them. All of the cars had neat printing, the roofs fit, but the windows could have been done a little better.

Rest assured, the Kato's will be much better!!! ohhhhhhhh I can't wait!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D (but my wallet can)
