Since remote control switching looks like it's here to stay, the modeling mind wanders to the implications. Being partial to switching layouts, I'm wondering if this "body of knowledge" (have you ever been called that before? [IMG] ) knows:

    1. Which railroads indulge in this practice?
    2. Of those, who uses cabooses attached to the switching engines to house the remote control gear?
    3. Which types of cabooses are used?
    4. Are they repainted into modern schemes? (a BNSF caboose comes to mind)

    Just wondering...

Montana Rail Link and Wisconsin Central both had R/C cabeese. I've not seen a BNSF one, they do have R/C fitted loco's however.

There are pics of MRL's ones dotted about amongst these stories. (Other good info too!)

This is the one with the R/C caboose pics. Looks like the Atlas Wide Vision and Standard Cupola ones would be natural choices to kitbash from in HO.

If you find a supplier for those air conditioning units let me know. I'm looking for one for a Metra loco or two!
