Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of y'all had ever found a way to use real reflective striping on the side on your locomotives. I was hoping to find some reflective film that is white and thin enough to look good on HO scale engines. If any of y'all know of anything that would work, please let me know, thanks a bunch!

You might try masking off and spraying reflective paint on your engine. The paint contains micro-mini glass spheres that do the reflecting. The paint is actually clear, but looks white because the balls are almost like a powder.

It is what they spray your house numbers on the curb with.

Approximately ten (?) years ago, I believe it was Jim Hediger - know it was "Model Railroader" - had an article on "reflective" decal striping.

There were color photos of his (I believe) Huron Steel switchers that had this reflective safety striping applied. You might want to check Model Railroader's web site to see if they have a reference to this article.

From the photos, taken under normal and "dark" conditions, they were very effective.
