Anyone know of a good reference book for Western Pacific? I am particulary interested in the F3 Units and FP7 units.
The WPRR historical society has what looks to be a comprehensive list of books, both in print and not. http://www.wprrhs.org/wpbooklist.html I only have Dunscomb and Stindt's steam locomotives book which would not be of use for your era. But you may want to consider some of the books from Morning Sun or Four Ways West. WP's Diesel Years from Overland Models sounds like it may be good but apparently is OOP. Ben
Dorin's WP Locomotives and Cars Vol 1 and Glegg's WP Pictorial Vol 1 Are great places to Start. Stripac's Western Pacific's Diesel Years is also pretty good. Of course there are others. But these are the ones I have and use most often for reference. May want to post this on the Western Pacific fallen flags board. BRAD
I found a signed copy of Dunscomb's book at a small library in Virginia, oh if they only knew how much that it was worth! :tb-confused:
Thanks everyone. At least I have a good starting point. I think I will post this on Fallen Flags. Bob
Yes, Nick that helps a lot. I discovered those books on Train Orders when I posed the question there. Now, to find one of them.
I've picked up a number of mine of the ebay auction site, also check with the WP Museum gift shop they may have some copies, http://www.wplives.org/WPRM_Home/On_Line_Store/on_line_store.html I picked up Stripac's WP's diesel years used on Amazon. Keep in mind it is all black and white pictures.
Thanks for the info Charge. I posed this same question on Train Orders and got so much feed back and info that I have everything I need. Thanks again.
