I have been given an HO scale NP reefer. This was built by a friend who sadly died of cancer a few years ago.

Photos below show the model with red trucks and wheels, is this correct for this car? Hope so, as it looks very distinctive.

    Alan,
That is a very colorful car for sure! I don't ever recall seeing a NP reefer in that livery with red trucks such as those. I know that the UP had a express boxcar or two which sported red trucks, so the idea was not uncommon. I suppose you could explain them that way, this is a reefer sometimes used for express shipments. Or you could apply a liberal coat of black weathering powder and they may look rusted and grimy. Either way I don't think I'd replace them as they do give the car lots of characture.

Looks to be an old kit, possibly made of wood, I actually have a couple bunk cars made of wood and been to be designed similarly, maybe same manufacturer. I need to apply the new kadee coupler and boxes I picked up for it a long while ago.

I would weather it lightly, looks to be a nice car. I love it. :D

Yes, these kits are made of wood, with cast pewter parts. I also have a boxcar and an unusual gondola. I will get them photographed.
