    Here is a real mechanical reefer in Selma, NC, Dec 2007. I thought mechanical reefers were all cryogenic now; no mechanical parts anymore? At least maybe the mechanical ones are rare.

    This is new to me.
    What is the nature of the mechanical vs cyrogenic?
    Mechancial I am guessing is like a "normal" freezer on a larger scale. No idea about the cyrogenic.

    Cryogenic may not be the exact term, but this webpage has information on the type of car I am referring to. Some are called arctic cars.

    These were on a NB juice train where CSX crosses NS. Taken around 7:15PM last May.
