Today, about noon, One of those long redi trucks threw a drive shaft right smack dab in the middle of Burleson on the renfro street crossing. When I went around the truck, the signal was flashing a yeller, but no train in sight yet. The burleson police man had placed flares on the tracks. Then, he picked up two flares and was waving them at the 55 local trying to get the crews attention. The workers at the feed mill brought out a front end loader and shoved the busted pete out of the way and the sound of brakes quit squeeling and the horn was honking . the cop had one of thoese nevrous looks on his face while he was waving them flares.

That sounds like a real close call. The truck driver and 55 crew better get themselves some lottery ticket's, and take advantage of their good luck! [IMG]

They were all lucky, weather they win they lottery or not. If this occured an hour later, it was raining and visualbity wasn't no wheres near what it was at noon. The crew would have saw the police man about 1,000 feet with the flares in hand. The 55 local only had 8 cars, a couple empty coal cars and empty lumber cars. I still, I dont think it would have stopped on a dime. I think that cop might have checked his pants after the train pasted.
