These are some really nice cars. Since these cars come in kit form and "rtr," I picked up one of each. Both cars run well and look great. The "rtr" cars are only a few less parts than the kits. On the "rtr" cars, the hoods are fixed in place but are removable on the kit cars. The kit cars also come with six coils. A nice detail to include. Therefore, I think the kits are the way to go. So, I'm wondering, what are some other opinions on these models?
I was especially waiting for the EJ&E ones, so I'm happy. I tried to help out by sending them what photos I had. They beat the Walthers ones, definitely. I'm just waiting for them to come out with the more modern round hood version, which they supposedly will eventually. But with these, the new blast furnace from Walthers, and the hot metal mill cars from Peach Creek... It's all you need for a good steel mill scene. If no one has seen the hot metal cars, they're here: http://www.peachcreekshops.com/stlkits.htm Be careful, some of the other stuff on the page is HO. Dave D. Look at the picture of the first one, the open top slag pot. Lots of detail missing. The torpedo cars also. Alan was tinkering with these maybe he will do them AFTER the DODX flats.
