Kettle Falls WA Pictures Was this caboose originally built this way? See first picture. Or is this a rebuilt caboose. Also in the middle picture see that black and white plate, on it it said that it was built in May 1967, and you can barely see the that it came from the Mo-Pac railroad. These pictures were taken on Sunday [06/11/06] in Kettle Falls, WA. Didn't bring a good camera, so these pictures were taken with one of those disposal kind. Hope to make it up there again in a few weeks and will take better pictures next time around. There were about eight engines in this yard. GP 38-3's, GP-35, and some just plain GP-38's, as well as a few that I just could not identify. On one engine it had when it was built, I took a picture of the plate, but the picture wasn't readable. The road names were BSNF-one engine #2721,OMLX-two engines said HBR there numbers were 2250 and 2253,OMLX-one other engine said KFR # was 2500 which I remember said that it was a GP35. Then there was a Central Kansas Railway engine numnber was 2504. The other three engines didn't have markings on them or the pictures just didn't turn out for me.
I wonder the same. http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/showphoto.php/photo/11894/cat/500/ppuser/5874 If I remeber correctly, all the NCRC equipment was painted in '93 whe the lines were leased so they could very well have rebuilt their caboose.
Yes, the MoPac built a lot of their own cabooses in the 60s and 70s in the DeSoto shops. This was a standard design for their road cabooses. Here is a series (13715-13814) built by MoPac in DeSoto from 1977-1978.
