Rear ended

    This was the caboose on a stopped coal train that was rear ended by a following train. It happened in the 70s so the railroad shall be nameless. As I remember the crew were shaken up but no serious injuries. I did not get to see the power on the following train so have no idea how bad it was. Usually in this type of accident the caboose rides up and takes the nose off the locomotive.

    Yes. I agree. OUCH! :eek: I'm thinking that the crew on this caboose was blessed if only injured. Photos I've seen of other incidents make it appear that usually nobody survives.

    OUCH is right. I'm sure they were blessed. a miracle of sorts! As said, most things like this, noone in the caboose made it out to tell the story! :(

    If I'd been in that caboose, I'd stop and get a lottery ticket on the way home. How lucky can you get? WHEW!
