In a rare move, a single SP AC leads the mty TASNC down hill (west) at Woodford, just below the Tehachapi Loop. Seeing trains in this era with a single unit was pretty rare.
Something interesting I spotted on a St. Louis MO railcam (LiveTrains), earlier today: An old Pullman with a clerestory roof was along for the ride too. Raining cats and dogs, the two guys on the observation platform had it right in the face with the wind... They could have both used a nice, big hot mug of coffee after this move! Fortunately, the lens of this camera was facing leeward! Pushed by three TRRA Geeps toward the 12th Street Yard.
Note the "C424M" under the logo on the cab. A hint of the change under the hood - the 2400 hp 16-cylinder 251B was replaced by a more reliable 2000 hp 12-cylinder 251C by GE in the late 1970s when Conrail was retiring them.
Someone give that beautiful lady a bath! Those big girls looked great in Erie garb, especially that big winged logo across the nose.
