It does look nice. But the whole name and appearance use is so out of place, I simply cannot wrap my mind around it.
These may help. https://railfan.com/a-rock-island-revival-mississippi-short-line-resurrects-image-of-the-rock/ https://rockislandrail.com/msdr-railroad https://rockislandrail.com/g&si-railroad
Standing right in front of this one in Clarksdale MS a few months ago seemed a bit surreal. Never thought I would ever see a Rock Island painted (Non heritage painted unit) in revenue service but here it is in 2022! Have to love it! Icing on the cake was later the same day seeing these two in Sumner MS. Oh, throw in a Hi-Rail tuck as well
Those are great images. I had a great friend that passed a few weeks ago, he worked for the RI back in the day, as a trainman. I tried to tell him of this new RI outfit, he would have loved to see these images. As striking as the blue and white is, man, that yellow and red really gets your attention. Both are great paint schemes. Thanks for showing us!
@BNSF FAN , those pics of yours are awesome, so surreal to see the ROCK today! The locos, cabooses, and even that Hi-rail are great!
Wow, that is so nice of CP to restart this tradition. Something I'll likely never see. Your pictures are superb and likely took some work to capture in such difficult light and weather.
At least someone there understands the value of REAL public relations. Other companies should be far more proactive in this regard. Instead, most have distanced themselves completely from the communities through which they pass- and cannot understand why locals regard them strictly as a nuisance.
This afternoon's NS 10K, eastbound towards Allentown, PA, with work at Spring ST yard in Reading, was coming out of the sun at Wyomissing JCT this afternoon. Even my polarizer didn't help much. I did find some lightly vandalized Western visitors in vintage dress.
