Caught today, NS 18D in Columbia, SC. This is a daily train loaded with new BMWs in the upstate and headed to the Port of Charleston. I wanted to capture a train by the old distant signal with the fishtail-shaped blade affixed to its mast.

That old industrial building in the background is really neat. One can just make out some of the original painted-on signage like "Virginia Sweet" and "Seavey and Flarshey"(?). It reminds me a bit of the Kingsley Building in Binghamton, NY. That's a great modeling project!

    I think it says "Flarsheim".
Here is a screen capture from Google Street View. Omaha Oklahoma City St.Louis St.Joseph Wichita? is all jumbled together. Kind of a puzzle to figure out. Modern windows in that building for sure. The "West Bottoms" area of Kansas City is fun to tour on Street View. There are a lot of cool building if you go up and down each street.

I like it when they rejuvenate and repurpose old buildings instead of tearing them down.

I think the second one down is "Grocery Brokerage & Storage".

High Top cars--obviously a lightweight commodity that cubes out before taring out, looks like coal? Metallurgical coal?

B&M used hi-top hoppers for supplying sawmill woodchips to paper mills nearby.

Are the six indents on the carside for a rotary dumper? Never seen anything like them.

Yeah, there was a link on Facebook showing the rail cam video. Was really wild.
