Looks very well kept. Where is their maintenance done? Perhaps that building at right edge of the first photo?
I'm not sure. The building to the right is an Evergreen Paper warehouse. The below shot is from 09/16/2017 and the BLU's engine terminal can be seen in the center in the distance, but there's no covered space there. Maintenance must be a rather miserable assignment in wintertime.
Here is one my dad took in Korea in 1956. I guess from the caption on the back there is a contrast between the human with a burden and the primitive train infrastructure.
Well, one of the brakemen could jump off the train and run ahead to lower the gate. Then someone could jump off the caboose to raise it after the train goes by and then run like heck to jump back on the train.

There's a purty one... I suspect that it had all its fans replaced at one point - they look like 2nd generation fans or maybe some grafted on from an F3. This lady's history must be interesting....
The unit worked for the Pennsylvania, Penn Central, and Conrail, who donated it to the museum. CR sent it down to be rebuilt as a GP10, having the dynamics blanked. It's still set up to operate long-hood forward.

Malta, CO: I think this derail mechanism being within the gauge is unique. And a classic view of Malta from the Barriger Party archives: https://www.flickr.com/photos/barrigerlibrary/12324762813/
These are such great pictures Hemi; the pair above convey a poignant sense of sad emptiness to me. It looks like there was a wye there? My knowledge of this line is thin, but through these images, I can imagine the activity Malta once knew.
Your memory serves you well. The wye at Malta led to a 5 mile branch to Leadville. Long ago taken up from just out of Malta, the ROW can be traced thru town.
SOU did the same. I saw a few when I rode ATK Crescent in the 80's and 90's. Sadly most have been removed by NS, Progress, doncha know...
