Finally got this unit leading a train.

Most people get drunk, others want sex but as for me, I go Railfanning.

Shooten trains. Give em a head start and then we'll hit em from behind.

Holy smokes! Thats the back to the future image of a loco they used. Well less the water buckets and all. But what a great photo.
Never ceases to amaze me the amount of photos from "back in the day". And that is way back on that day.

The solution to no water towers along the way: Take'em with you!:)

Apparently the concept of a siphon was yet to be learned.

We bought them from a scrapper to replace the worn out trucks on this unit. We remounted the old bearing box covers for aesthetics.

Nice. It's not every day that one sees an operating Alco switcher on Blunt trucks.

Former SAL Alco C-420 1376 works at Knoxville, TN in April 1979. These units were flogged daily and yet muscled through. I recall seeing a C-420 throttled up shoving a heavy cut, wheels having lost adhesion and slowly spinning with smoke pouring off the wheel surfaces.
