A GMD-1 in North Dakota? Yup. Former SRY and CN GMD-1m rests at the Lansford, ND Northern Plains Railroad shops.
Needless to say, the billboard was of greater interest than CSX at this spot. [Pontiac, SC - July 1993]
No wizardry, other than trying to sharpen the focus on the locomotive's nose without much success. I used unsharp mask on the entire image and it had the unexpected dividend of making the billboard pop. Scanning my slides, I've come to greatly dislike CSX's all gray "stealth scheme" which scans terribly unless it's in the best of sun. The gray with added blue trim scheme didn't last long, but it looked pretty good I think. The below shot was taken just up the line in Lugoff, SC in June 1991 when CSX offered every hue in the paint locker.

Or Miss Taken (Mistaken?)... "Bold and Blue" A pair of Northern Plains Railroad's repainted ballast cars rest at their Lansford, ND shops.
Notice the wire leading to the turntable to change polarity of the rails. Rochester, MN had a turntable on the ex-CGW until 1983 when they tore down the old engine house and surrounding structures. Doug
This one in Cheyenne, WY looks like 7015, but I cannot read the number. And in my own infinite wisdom, cropped only 600 px wide or so, so I cannot expand it... I bagged 7115's sister, 7118 in Cheyenne, WY in 2006 or so.
Intersting locomotives found at Republic Locomotive in Greenville, SC in 1985 and 1986. Rock Island SW-1200 #926, Ware Shoals (a small South Carolina shortline which quit in '85 and was torn up) and a Keystone Steel and Wire Whitcomb maybe?
