Snapped the switching pair (SD40-2 1675 and rebuilt SD45-2 1579) in Golden a few weeks ago, plus a tankcar.
"Won the Race" BNSF manifest gets underway on a parallel main track as Amtrak #7 leaves it in its dust.
Battered and faded, the vintage Southern Railway station sign at Simpson, SC hangs on. Simpson is located on NS's Charlotte, NC <=> Columbia, SC mainline. The line was built by the Charlotte, Columbia & Augusta Railroad and acquired by the SOU in 1894.

Hard to follow an act like that. Great work, Buddy! "Golden Amtrak Number Eight" With moments of light remaining in the day, Amtrak #8 cruises east into Minot.
There is a Simpson, MN, too, south of Rochester. At one time the town was in the center of a wye on the CGW. One leg of the wye went north to Rochester, one went south to Stewartville, MN, and one went east to Winona, MN. The tracks have been gone for many years. Doug
I am ready for the the picnic. Got my button. This actually was from my father-in-law's dad from when he worked for the Norfolk & Western.
I am a private pilot and was just getting some flight time in and couldn't pass up the shot. Had to take it over mt left shoulder to keep the wing strut out of the photo and ALMOST dropped the phone out the window. No more phone photos while flying.
Beautiful photo. Worthy of submitting to Trains magazine. Please don't stop taking photos. Maybe rig a wrist strap, or change your flight angle so you take them ahead of the strut, or both?
BNSF local on July, 2, 2007 in Rosenberg, Texas. Heading south on the Galveston Sub after crossing the UP Sunset Route which is the track seen in the foreground.
My oldest brother took this photo at Dawson Creek, British Columbia in August of 1961. My mom, two bothers and I were traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska on the ALCAN Highway in our brand new Chevy station wagon. My dad was going to meet us there.
